0000346: Sound works after install but doesn't work after 1st reboot

Sound works after install but doesn't work after 1st reboot.

P2-400 / 192MB RAM / ASUS MB / SB Vibrax16 PnP / Yoper 3.0.1

First I installed 3.0 and the sound failed after 1st boot then I installed 3.0.1 and the same thing happened. Works on both versions immediately after installation of Yoper.
Error states can't open /dev/dsp no such device.

alsaconf finds card and says it is activating but never works after reboot.
I love the speed of Yoper on this hardware... makes it actually usable (unlike WIN2K or XP).

test on laptop (live), no mouse at all. mouse is synaptic touch pad.
smart install synaptic = no package found or what not

0000345: kpowersave crashes

Yoper 3.1 did not power off the laptop's LCD when closing the lid. Installed kpowersave and when starting kpowersave it crashed.

0000344: ALSA not detecting my sound card . OSS not working properly

AlSA is not detecting my sound card after installing alsa-utils and running alsa config. Currently OSS is available but whenever i do some work like open an application the sound output get disturbed. Also when i connect the headphone jack both the laptop speaker and the headphone outputs sound.

'smart install nvidia' = somthing to the effect of no matching packages
trying the manual way of downloading and installing direct from nvidia, installer fails because of no 'ld'
manual installation also requests for kernel src download via smart install ... smart install has --dumb flag on by default.
resolution required for monitor is 1920x1080.
i can only guess that vesa drivers are the reason for unattainable resolution.
default video drivers leave all screen text in unreadable form (text to picture ratio is very small also)
could test no further in this situation
